SOJOURN describes a spiritual journey. Beginning with a pompous and arrogant "March," continuing through a "Meditation," or prayer, asking God 'Why?' The piece ends with a "Metamorphosis," the change into something new. Themes recur throughout the three movements. An extended solo for Alto Saxophone occurs in the second movement. SOJOURN was part of my doctoral dissertation, and was selected by composer Mark Camphouse to be part of the 2006 Young Composer Mentor Project, where "Meditation" was performed and recorded. (2006)
