When we make music, we connect and communicate with others in a special way. We foster accountability and teamwork. We learn to be part of a whole that is greater than ourselves, yet without sacrificing our own unique contributions. We explore deep and complex meanings, and share in joyous celebration. 

Across the country, we frequently find musical connections being made between educational and artistic communities. In the case of Gardner-Webb University, one of these connections is with Crest High School (Shelby, NC), and the music they've made together for more than 20 years through dozens of performances. 

There are countless similar examples of this kind of musical community and collaboration across the nation, and this new overture for orchestra celebrates the joy of music making found in these partnerships.
